Martin´s Ailments , Paul´s Rugby Tackles, Asgeir´s Gymnastics
Galapagos --
Nov 11, 2002 --
Not only is the kit getting a hammering being lugged around the world on and off planes, dive boats and transfer buses, but the team too is gradually beginning to show signs of wear and tear. Martin is gradually working through each of his muscle groups achieving a quite spectacular mountain of a bruise from tripping over a rope whilst white water rafting back in Cairns, pulling tendons in his arm lifting everyone´s dive bags, and gouging a chunk out of his hand messing with dive cylinders on the dive boat! Needless to say we´ve not heard the end of it!
Paul(Hawkes) on the other hand put his entire body on the line for the expedition with a poorly judged rugby tackle on a speeding 12 year old boy in New Zealand, resulting in a rather painful muscle sprain in his lower back. Said 12 year old boy was about to score the winning try in a hastily arranged game of touch rugby. Sadly this injury is severe enough that Paul has had to step out of the diving in Galapagos, and is seriously considering returning home early - he would be very much missed by everyone on the project.
Asgeir too performed some stunning acrobatics as 14 huge manta rays flew past the boat whilst feeding on the surface. Asgeir in his excitement misjudged precisely where the stairs were on the boat and bumped from top to bottom in record time. Heroically, he is continuing to dive but has to be helped in and out of his dive kit and lifted out of the water like a giant trout. Nothing too serious and safety has not been affected as he´s still 100% when in the water.
